SFIVET's R&D Division provides support and guidance to those responsible for the VET/PET reform process, which mainly involves drafting and introducing ordinances and training plans for upper-secondary level VET programmes. Services include assistance to VET reform committees seeking to define and position occupations, describe relevant competencies, establish the educational targets, structure and duration of VET programmes and design corresponding qualification procedures.
The Federal Vocational and Professional Education and Training Act (SR 412.10), which came into force in 2004, requires VET ordinances and training plans to be established for all upper-secondary level VET programmes. All VET stakeholders are required to adhere to these VET ordinances and training plans, identify new requirements and represent VET ideas.
